Nausicaa herself understands this, and tries to save her village and the rest of the human race, but at the same time tries to save all of the toxic forest and the Ohms, way before she finds out about the fresh water. San tries to only save her kind, which are the animals of the earth, and kills humans in the process. San later realizes that harmony can be obtained and starts to get a viewpoint like Nausicaa. They both have the goal of being the mediators between humanity and nature.
Nausicaa has to save her village from the Ohms, but instead of using the monster to kill all of the Ohms, she finds a more peaceful method that saves both species. She gets the baby Ohm from captivity and offers it up to the Ohms in return for their rage quieting, and she also destroys the monster before it can cause any problems. San tries to stop all the rage inflicting the gods, and gets the help of humans to stop it, especially from Ashitaka. In the end she decides upon living in harmony with the humans and nature by being a mediator even after the Spirit of the Forest dies.
In the end they both save their people and nature, and opening the humans' eyes to the need of coexistence with nature. But honestly, how many ohms do you think those Ohms make when they scream?
Ohms are pretty cool, but mechanical ohms are way cooler. The reminds me of that battlebot nonsense that was mildly popular when we were younger. That guy's robot would have been way more dope if it had a table saw or a flamethrower or like a forklift mechanism for flipping other robots. But Ohms don't really have any of that stuff. They are bugs. It would be scary if they did. Ohms can already mess stuff up pretty bad without all that foolishness. Maybe civilizations could create robotic super Ohms to take out the nasty old Ohms. Obviously, we would need the mechanical Ohms to be friendly, but it would be pretty rad.
ReplyDeleteI just remembered that Nausicaa was a princess. It’s hard to remember that when she not wearing dresses and being treated like royalty. She’s different and I like it. The world doesn’t need someone who’s going to sit there and watch the world get destroyed or wonder if someone else is going to do something about it. She actually takes action. She doesn’t need her own personal staff to protect her or her people. She can do everything herself and doesn’t seek help from others. Once thing that amazed me in the film was when she got shot. She not only got shot once, but twice. Even with her bullet wounds, she still succeed to stop the two guys from harming the baby ohm anymore. She also stop the baby ohm from going into the acid infested water. Which burned her tremendously, but she didn’t cry or hesitate. Nausicaa still did her duty to try to make the two opposing sides live amongst each other.
